Modern Day Cricket : The Permanent Change

The thing that each generation of cricketers, analysts and fans ponder about, the modern day cricket. As they say, change is the only permanent thing, so does modern day cricket.

Gone are those days, when batsmen faced raging fast bowlers with caps on, when fans used to rush in after the team’s victory to celebrate with the players themselves. It’s all ‘closed’ now. Physically out of reach, mentally as well. Fans are now defined as a bunch of people who turn up to the cricket fields just for the sake of entertainment (T20s, errr…). The enthusiasm of a cricket fan of this generation has certainly been changed, thanks to the ever-lasting process of modernization. It would be a mistake to say people aren’t supporting the true form of cricket, but even in that form of the game, one wishes to see a contest between the two teams. Entertainment, that is.

How far the changes are going to happen and up to which extent in the cricketing world, we don’t know. Yet from the fan’s perspective, the soul of a cricket match, the enthusiasm shouldn’t die in search of some things that we fans don’t understand, e.g. FTP, Television Rights etc. Maybe this is the reason why true fans follow Domestic and League games more seriously than International fixtures. At least they don’t have to compromise themselves to watch cricket, which isn't really cricket.

No matter which country’s board leads the cricketing fraternity, fans will remain the same and so will be their love for the sport.
